Crystal Palace fans watched their 19 game unbeaten run come to an end on Sunday, as the Eagles lost 2-1 away at Everton. But Palace could’ve won the game.

Fresh from their 2-0 win over Dynamo Kyiv in the Conference League in midweek, Crystal Palace headed to the Hill Dickinson Stadium to take on bogey team Everton.

The Eagles went into this game without a win away at Everton since 2014. But Oliver Glasner’s side had the lead at half-time thanks to Daniel Munoz’s second goal in as many games.

Everton eventually found a way back into the game. Maxence Lacroix gave away a costly penalty which Iliman Ndiaye converted.

Then in injury time, Everton’s in form loan man Jack Grealish scored a dramatic winner, as Crystal Palace’s club record unbeaten run came to a crashing halt.

Yeremy Pino is really getting into his rhythm with Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace signed Yeremy Pino from Villarreal in the summer. Then in midweek in Poland, the attacker got his first two assists for the club.

Glasner hailed Pino’s performance against Dynamo Kyiv and he was in fine form against Everton on Sunday, working the flank well and generally making Palace look a better side all round.

And that’s something that the Crystal Palace fans noted online, saying how Pino replacing Ebere Eze has simply made the team much more balanced and generally stronger.

Crystal Palace fans agree Yeremy Pino is an improvement on Ebere Eze

There’s no doubting Eze’s individual quality. But after Eze’s £67.5million move to Arsenal this summer, it’s become clear that Eze somewhat slowed down Palace and that Pino just suits the Glasner system much better, despite the defeat at Everton on Sunday.

“Controversial, but the balance of the Palace side with Yeremy Pino playing, not Eze is becoming clear to see… We look more threatening down both sides,” said one Crystal Palace fan.

Another said: “We are a better team without Eze. Eze unbelievable player but he ultimately was not a Glasner system player. In such a short space of time Pino already showing how direct he is and how quick he moves the ball. Eze never did this and slowed us down time and time again.”

To which this supporter responded: “I’m glad you’ve said. It’s like we have gone up a gear.”

“Sold Eze and got arguably better,” read another comment, as one Crystal Palace fan added: “As much as I loved Eze, Pino really has not made us miss him so far.”

A final comment read: “I’ll say it quietly – but Pino is going to be a more effective player in Glasner’s system than Eze was. He moves the ball quickly, progresses up the field with pace, and is happy wide or narrow.”

Crystal Palace next play Bournemouth in the Premier League on October 18th.
