The international break will have given Oliver Glasner a real opportunity to prepare for the rest of the Premier League season.

In recent weeks Crystal Palace have suffered an injury crisis.

Of all the players to miss time through injury, Adam Wharton was probably the biggest miss for Crystal Palace.

Wharton had to undergo surgery earlier this month on an issue which had been impacting his performances all season

In order to play games in the early weeks of the campaign, Wharton had been taking injections to make it through the matches.

While Wharton has been out, the Eagles’ struggles have continued – sitting 18th in the Premier League and seeing the chances of relegation rise.

But as he gears up for a return, now it has been reported that Wharton and Oliver Glasner had been doing one thing over the break.

Despite Glasner’s troubles this season, he retains the backing of the Selhurst Park hierarchy, while the Eagles squad also have faith he will turn things around.

If things are to get better, Glasner will need his star players back in form, with Wharton among these.

According to the London World, Glasner has been busy over the international break with three particular things aimed at solving the crisis at Selhurst Park.

The report explains one of the things to be that Glasner has been eagerly anticipating the return of Wharton – although the game against Aston Villa on Saturday could come too soon.

In order to help keep Wharton’s spirits up, Glasner has been regularly checking in on the 20-year-old midfield gem in order to ensure he doesn’t get frustrated or lonely while on the sidelines.

Glasner would love to see the 2023/24 version of Wharton upon his return to action as it could be key in the Eagles regaining that form we saw.

Crystal Palace need the squad to find form

While this season has been awful, the margins have been very slim as Palace have been involved in multiple games which really could have gone either way. That being said, on paper Glasner’s form lately would have been sackable if he hadn’t built trust last season with a 10th-place finish.

Injury problems have been detrimental to the Eagles’ form along with the poor form of almost all the attacking players at one time – a recipe for attacking disaster.

Aston Villa have a weakened squad for this Saturday’s game at Villa Park which Glasner must take advantage of and kickstart the Eagles’ campaign with three points for the third time in a row over the Villians.

But in order for this to happen, Glasner needs his players to start scoring and playing much better than they have been in the past three months.
