Crystal Palace have been linked with a move for a midfielder this summer, but seemingly face competition from rivals Brighton for his signature.
The Eagles are still looking to strengthen their squad for the upcoming Premier League campaign, with just over one week until the season begins.
Oliver Glasner has raised expectations at Selhurst Park, following on from an impressive stint so far as Crystal Palace boss.
He will now be tasked with pushing on for more than survival in the top tier, with a style of play that entertains simultaneously.
While there’s a possibility of losing key stars, with Michael Olise joining Bayern Munich, Marc Guehi is in talks with Newcastle and Eberechi Eze has been linked with Tottenham, there’s also a chance to strengthen.
One target that has been linked with Crystal Palace is Celtic star Matt O’Riley, but they face a challenge for his signature now.

Brighton open talks for Crystal Palace target Matt O’Riley
While Dougie Freedman appears to be tracking a move for Danish international O’Riley, it appears as though their rivals have stolen a march.
That’s because, according to Sky Sports, Brighton have opened talks with Celtic for the midfielder this summer.
Chelsea are also believed to be in the mix as they look at other options to replace former Crystal Palace loanee Conor Gallagher – who is set to join Atletico Madrid this summer.
O’Riley played 32 league games for Celtic last season, scoring 13 goals and assisting 11 from central midfield.
With teams showing their interest in the 23-year-old, Palace may have to step up their interest if they want to get a deal done.
Crystal Palace transfer priority
While O’Riley would be a quality option to add to the squad, he may not be a priority for Crystal Palace this summer.
Teams will often show interest in players that they believe could become available as a market opportunity.
However, in the case of Palace, it’s clear that other areas need bolstering much more immediately than the central ranks.
Another wide option could be on the cards to help deal with any potential outgoings in the forward areas over the summer.
A centre-back could be on the cards for the same reason, while left wing-back cover may be desired to share the workload of Tyrick Mitchell.
In all, it points towards other moves being made before turning to O’Riley, though it remains to be seen if the Eagles step up their interest.
