Crystal Palace have got deadline day off to a turbulent beginning, with a few concerning stories breaking.
Coming into deadline day, Crystal Palace looked in a remarkable position of having the Adam Wharton deal wrapped up along with talks underway for both Chuba Akpom and then also Maxwel Cornet.
But as we approach the mid-way point of deadline day, the move as mentioned above for the West Ham ace has been cast into doubt.
Here’s the latest in Palace’s hunt to sign Cornet.

Maxwel Cornet to Crystal Palace latest
This morning it broke that Cornet was in fact keen on making a move to join Palace from West Ham in what would be a loan move.
Since then, a journalist has admitted he’d actually be shocked if Cornet was allowed to depart by West Ham, with little time for a replacement.
A report from TEAMtalk has suggested West Ham won’t have to make that decision with Palace boss Roy Hodgson himself turning down the chance to sign Cornet.
With Palace pulling out, we hope attention will now turn to the other rumoured possible arrival of Akpom.
What deals could Crystal Palace do on deadline day?
With a move for £65k-a-week man, Cornet possibly off the table right now, Palace will likely be on the search for a new option to strengthen the attack.
Sam Johnstone’s departure has also been put to bed it appears as Nottingham Forest are instead looking elsewhere to strengthen their goalkeeping position.
So with Wharton likely to soon be announced – barring any further complications – Akpom seems likeliest to follow him today, but Palace are running out of time.
