Crystal Palace could now see one target head to Juventus after having already made a bid this summer.

After losing Michael Olise, there was a real transfer hunt on Dougie Freedman’s hands to find the perfect replacement. Replacing such an impactful player was always going to be tricky but with Ismaila Sarr in the door the club took a real step toward doing so.

But outside of Sarr, there were several other players linked including now RB Leipzig-bound Antonio Nusa, and also Jaden Philogene who has since been re-signed by Aston Villa.

There were numerous other players suggested as possibilities with Matias Soule being the most popular for many, but Crystal Palace opted for Sarr despite bidding elsewhere beforehand.

Now, the chances of signing one player have dropped significantly with Italian heavyweights Juventus in the running.

Juventus enter race to sign Marcus Edwards this summer

Earlier this summer, it looked as though Sporting Lisbon winger Marcus Edwards would be coming to Selhurst Park as the Olise replacement amid plenty of rumours.

Interest from the Eagles even saw Freedman submit an offer to the Portuguese side for their No.10 this summer, although the offer for Edwards was just half the asking price at £12.6m.

Despite interest this summer from SE25, Edwards was never too keen on the move with a return to Spurs favoured. However, now Fabrizio Romano has reported that Juventus have added him to their list of options to strengthen the winger position for Thiago Motta this summer.

The Serie A giants are believed to have approached Sporting over the last 24 hours to enquire about the conditions of the deal.

Edwards has been likened to Lionel Messi previously which explains perfectly why Palace would have been so keen on signing him as the Olise replacement.

Palace should still try and sign Edwards

Despite having Sarr signed already, Palace should still be looking to strengthen in this position for the upcoming campaign.

This is because the Eagles have lost not only Olise but Jesurun Rak-Sakyi on loan and Jordan Ayew is the subject of a bid from Leicester City.

This would leave Sarr and the versatile Daichi Kamada as options in the position, but the Eagles could be far better placed by adding Edwards to the ranks to fight it out with Sarr.

Palace adding Edwards would round out the position and leave Glasner spoilt for choice going forward.
