Crystal Palace have numerous players out on loan this season, but one is really struggling.
Loan manager Mark Bright has his hands full this season.
Several Crystal Palace youngsters have headed out on loan – with Jesurun Rak-Sakyi being the most notable of the bunch. The winger has been impressive in the Championship for Sheffield United – even earning himself an England U21 call-up.
David Ozoh is also on loan, spending the season at Derby although is struggling with injuries. Arguably the best-performing loanee was Joe Whitworth, who has been excellent for Exeter.
However, not all the loans have been a success, as certain players have been sent to clubs which don’t suit their talents.
Bright has got plenty of loans wrong, but it is Luke Plange’s loan to HJK Helsinki which looks doomed.
Luke Plange is struggling in Finland this season
It was bizarre when Eagles youngster Plange was sent on loan to Finland, although it was a move that saw former Crystal Palace man Aki Riihilahti excited.
Previously, Plange admitted he was initially confused by HJK’s interest – and he will now probably be wishing he did not make the move.
Plange has scored six goals for the Finnish side, along with two assists – however his most recent came all the way back in June.
Since scoring against KUPS on June 30th, Plange has been in the HJK squad for 13 games and has not scored once.
Due to this HJK has dropped him as his last four games have only seen a combined 73 minutes of action.
Who should Crystal Palace send on loan in January
Despite the struggles of Plange, the loan market can be used efficiently by Crystal Palace, with multiple young players needing senior football.
One player we would like to see on loan is breakthrough winger Asher Agbinone.
The talented academy player has made his debut for Crystal Palace already, but with minutes being handed out sparingly, he needs to be loaned so he can develop.
Agbinone should be joined by Caleb Kporha, Franco Umeh and even Justin Devenny who all need minutes in senior football and risk stagnating on the bench for the Eagles.
Alternatively, Glasner could use the youth himself as he did with Devenny against Fulham.
